“I wish that all of nature’s magnificence,
the emotion of the land, the living energy of place could be photographed.”
– Annie Leibovitz
I became interested in photography during a 2006 driving trip through Mexico and Central America. Before I left, I bought a Kodak point-and-shoot camera with a telephoto lens. It was an unassuming little camera that let me capture people's faces without feeling conspicuous. Seeing these photgraphs ignited in me something I had never felt before.
Quite simply, nature. Photographing birds and animals in the wild gives me a feeling of coming back to myself. I love moving at my own pace, standing in one spot for several minutes, looking around, enjoying the moment and the beauty and the power of the environment.
It wasn't long before I began seeking out photographers, joining photo groups, and acquiring a Nikon DSLR camera and more powerful telephoto lenses. I began with the Nikon 3000 amateur series.
